Job Description

Under the supervision of the Patient Financial Service Director/ Assistant VP, Revenue Cycle, the PFS Assistant Director is primarily responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing the daily operations related to the billing and collection of third party and patient accounts. Reviews, develops, and analyzes data to measure and explain staff performance, accounts receivable, and progress towards financial targets. Identifies trends and recommends process improvement to enhance workflows, expand staff training and skills, to advance productivity, automate processes and meet department’s goals.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• High School diploma required. College degree and or certifications in billing and coding preferred.
• 5 years hospital-billing experience required.
• Computer literate, knowledge of Word & Excel required
• Must be able to adapt to system changes, self-starter, organized, detail oriented
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with internal staff, customers, leaders and representatives from external departments and agencies
• Must possess the ability to effectively train and supervise personnel
• Must be able to effectively manage and coordinate the billing, follow-up, customer service, cash posting, and regulatory compliance functions

• Must possess an in-depth knowledge of third party governmental billing regulations, statutes/laws governing the management of human resources and strong employee relation skills.
• Must have highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must possess high ability to organize, develop and write user manuals and other required documents
