Stinchcomb Nursery Service is Hiring a Garden Center Merchandiser Near Poughkeepsie, NY

We are looking for self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals with a desire to learn, who want to hit the ground running and love to work outside.

Our goal as a company, and your responsibility as a merchandiser, will be excellent presentation/display and maintenance of live shrubs, trees, roses, perennials and seasonal items within a retail garden center. You will be responsible for following plan-o-grams, maintaining signage and aesthetics standards, as well as assisting shoppers inside a big-box garden center.

Responsibilities:

  • Display plant material according to set standards
  • Ensure safe construction and location of displays
  • Set up, restock, and take down marketing displays - reorganizing as needed and refilling displays as shipments arrive
  • Maintain and help sell plant material - includes watering, signing, & pruning
  • Converse with customers as they request assistance and/or have questions
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor, store employees, other service teams
  • Keep a clean work area

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in merchandising, retail/sales, customer service, horticulture, landscaping, or other related fields preferred
  • Ability to handle physical workload - consistently lift and move up to 60 lbs. throughout the day
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills
  • Able to work both independently and with others
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Reliable transportation & valid driver's license

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
