Stifel is looking for a Vice President to join its Leverage Finance team based in New York. The Leveraged Finance team provides a full array of financing solutions for financial sponsors and corporate clients. Leveraged Finance originates structures, underwrites and executes non-investment grade debt financings including leveraged loans, high yield bonds, bridge financing and private debt. In addition, Stifel also provides middle market direct lending solutions to financial sponsors, targeting borrowers with EBITDA ranging from $15mm and up.
This person will be an integral part of the group, serving as a portfolio manager for broadly syndicated leveraged loans and middle market direct loans. This includes the completion of ongoing portfolio reviews, preparation of management reports, processing amendment and waiver requests, and underwriting the extension of incremental credit. In addition, the candidate will provide documentation review for underwritten transactions and will manage ongoing compliance for third-party financing that supports our lending activity.

Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate performance of the leveraged loan portfolio by reviewing financial and operating metrics, analyzing business trends, identifying potential problems, and monitoring covenant compliance,
- Participate in ongoing quarterly loan reviews in conjunction with senior management,
- Review legal documentation in conjunction with the Leveraged Finance underwriting team to support new transactions,
- Provide underwriting support for credit extensions in the portfolio and manage amendment and waiver requests,
- Manage ongoing borrowing base, reporting requirements, valuation procedures, and capital raising activities for third-party financing to support both syndicated and direct lending,
- Manage Associates and Analysts, and foster their training and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university and 7 years of related leveraged finance experience at an investment bank, commercial bank, or direct lender (or an MBA plus 5 years of experience),
- Experience in leveraged credit portfolio management and underwriting,
- Financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and accounting skills / knowledge,
- Strong written and verbal communications skills,
- Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities,
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines,
- Demonstrated team player and leader,
Minimum salary: $200,000
Maximum salary: $250,000
