Description

*This position will be located in Oak Creek, WI and not eligible for fully remote** 

The BI Developer works closely with other developers, business analysts, and end-users to construct scalable and sustainable enterprise-level business intelligence, data repositories, applications, interfaces, and reporting tools that meet business needs based on documented requirements under normal supervision. The Data Warehouse Developer may also contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of ETL mappings and processes to support business analytics, reporting, and data integration across platforms to ensure ‘one source of truth’ data management.

The BI Developer participates in the ongoing use of internal processes for ITSM incident, problem and change management, participating in the development of business intelligence data warehouses and data marts, as well as end-user reporting tools and platforms.

Essential Functions include the following. 

  • Executing solution delivery engagements specific to Enterprise Data Warehouse reporting deliverables inclusive of data cleansing and validation initiatives
  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Building dynamic reports, cascading dashboards and visual controls using Power BI or other visualization or reporting tools
  • Leading BI software development, deployment and maintenance
  • Report curation and data modeling
  • Participation in data warehouse solutions individually or in collaboration with a team observing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Change Management process
  • Documenting contents within the data warehouse and metadata storage
  • Creation of technical documentation for BI tools
  • Participates in the development of high-quality functional BI applications, data warehouse functionality, data marts, data lakes and BYOD repositories having significant impact on the organization for critical business intelligence analysis and reporting
  • Creates ETL and reporting objects that enable repeatable, scalable, and sustainable solutions for end-user community, distribution partners and customers
  • Develops and executes test plans for code validation in unit testing and end-to-end integration testing.
  • Identifies and participates in departmental process improvement projects to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance business unit and IT strategic goals
  • Fully embraces IT Problem and Change Management in concert with other IT teams to reduce risk, minimize downtime to the business, and communicate changes to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, MIS, or related field 
  • Apps DBA experience in data warehouse development environment
  • Strong technical experience in developing business intelligence capabilities and applications
  • Business experience working with food manufacturing, supply chain, or field service applications
  • Minimum 4 years of IT experience that includes: 
  • ETL & Data Warehouse development experience in Power BI, BYOD and Azure environments.
  • High proficiency with Power BI Application development
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Azure technologies (Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, SQL Server, Data warehouse, Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, etc.)
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft SQL, SQL Server Database Engine (administration / maintenance).
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power Query
  • Experience with Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Experience using T-SQL scripts (stored procedures, views, functions etc.) to manipulate data and simplify access to data, SSAS cube creation and maintenance
  • Experience with data modeling (normalized and de-normalized data models), understanding of the appropriate purpose for each
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Power BI for modeling datasets within Workspaces, report and dashboard development, application subscriptions and threshold Alerts
  • High proficiency in M Language and DAX within Power BI
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information in an understandable manner to those not experienced in IT
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • The ability to prioritize work and respond quickly as necessary to address changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and effectively
