STATE OF IDAHO is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Boise, ID

The Department of Administration is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join one of the most diverse agencies in State Government. This position is located in downtown Boise, reports to the Department Director and serves on the Executive Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate would have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 
  • Experience with state accounting systems and processes; 
  • Strong attention to detail with problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with face-to-face interactions with customers, staff and public officials; 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and honesty;
  • Ability to self-manage priorities and tasks.
This permanent classified position also includes a comprehensive benefit package including: PERSI Retirement Benefits, Medical/Dental Benefits and Life Insurance for both the employee and eligible dependents. Paid time off includes vacation and sick leave that begin accruing immediately upon hire and Holiday pay.
Incumbents hire, train, and evaluate the performance of professional staff and manage their activities. They direct the development of and changes to financial reporting and management systems which are subject to frequent and major modifications and direct their implementation. Incumbents develop and recommend financial policy and procedures.Incumbents insure financial reporting systems and documents are in compliance with laws, policies, standards, and regulations and with generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Actions they take may have significant legal ramifications.Incumbents direct the preparation of a variety of financial documents used in management decisions. They provide professional consultation to management regarding financial matters and in the application of information technology to support the operation of various accounting, auditing, or budgeting reporting systems and requirements.
Good knowledge of: 
  • Accounting principles and practices; 
  • Management practices.
Experience:
  • Supervising others;
  • Auditing and interpreting computerized financial reports and data; 
  • Auditing or designing and maintaining computerized financial reporting systems and subsystems; 
  • Auditing or establishing internal financial reporting controls; 
  • Preparing financial management or audit reports; 
  • Preparing and making oral presentations.
Desirable Experience (not required but may increase your score):
  • Working within the State of Idaho's statutory requirements as they relate to developing and managing agency budgets, fiscal processes and data management systems.
