JOB OVERVIEW – The Montana Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Program Specialist to serve as the primary coordinator of the Institutional Screening Committee process. This critical role involves evaluating offender eligibility for participation in the Institutional Screening Committee process, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring the effective review of offender cases. As the Program Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and fairness of the offender placement process within the Montana Department of Corrections.

Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Serve as the primary coordinator of the Institutional Screening Committee process.
  • Review case records, legal documents, and the Offender Management System (OMS) to determine offender eligibility.
  • Assign cases for review to facility case management staff and monitor review results.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Pardons and Parole victim liaison staff to gather victim input.
  • Participate as a voting member of the Institutional Screening Committee at secure facilities.
  • Coordinate with secure facilities, Probation and Parole, Victim Services, and the Board of Pardons and Parole.
  • Notify offenders of the outcomes of their case reviews.
  • Maintain accurate data on the Institutional Screening Committee process, including offender reviews and outcomes.
  • Address inquiries from DOC staff, community corrections facilities, offenders, victims, and the public regarding the process.
  • Provide essential training to facility case management staff and committee members for process continuity.
  • Contribute to DOC offender placement processes across custody and supervision levels.

QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience. Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.
