Under general direction this position performs a variety of technical and legal duties; receives complaints concerning the regulations of a variety of professions under the jurisdiction of the Division of State-wide Enforcement relating to both cases of alleged irregular practice by a licensee and cases of illegal practice by an unlicensed person. Conducts hearings and participates in informal conferences. Assembles the evidence, prepares and presents the written complaint and all pleadings; prosecutes the accused in hearings before an Administrative Law Judge, and, if applicable, the respective Board member. Presents the Board's written report of Findings and Recommendations to the Director. Presents the case to the State's Attorney or Attorney General’s Office or other enforcement authority to institute criminal proceedings. Requires graduation from a recognized law school.2. Requires the possession of a valid license to practice law in Illinois.Preferred Qualifications1. Prefers at least five years of experience with judicial and quasi-judicial procedure, the rules of evidence, administrative hearings, and trial procedure, specifically relating to professional licensing.2. Prefers at least five years of litigation experience conducting trials or evidentiary hearings in state court, federal court, or administrative hearings.3. Prefers at least five years of experience acquiring extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, specifically relating to administrative and regulatory functions.4. Prefers at least three years of experience managing and maintaining individual case load.Conditions of Employment1.
