StarRez is Hiring a Remote Product Marketing Manager

We are seeking a customer-centric and knowledgeable Product Marketing Manager to join the StarRez Marketing team. You’re a great fit for the role if you have a passion for championing product positioning and messaging, while demonstrating mastery in a broad spectrum of disciplines: StarRez platform benefits, developing enablement materials, student housing operations, higher education conference and events execution.

To help StarRez empower residential communities, you should have an in-depth knowledge of student housing operations and strategy, university event and conference execution, and the StarRez platform and its capabilities. You should also have some general marketing experience. Content strategy, positioning & messaging, persona definitions, win/loss analysis, and new product launch execution are especially desirable. Most of all, we are looking for an exceptional person to help engage our customer community and partner with many teams across StarRez. 

What you will do at StarRez:

  • Market Research:
    • Monitor industry trends including industry associations, social media, customer communities, and competitor activities.
    • Gather feedback from customers, prospects, and industry stakeholders to help shape our future go-to-market efforts and product developments.
    • Conduct competitive research and win/loss analysis to gain insights into successes, failures, and competitive differentiation.
  • Positioning & Messaging:
    • Craft and maintain the StarRez strategic narrative, story, and positioning to help the market understand the problems we solve and the value we deliver.
    • Define our target market, ideal customer profile, and buyer/user personas. Refine and segment them to create specific messaging that conveys the unique value proposition of StarRez in an engaging and distinct way.
    • Maintain strong product knowledge by building relationships and collaborating with the product team.
    • Be a spokesperson, evangelist, and thought leader with analysts, customers, and partners.
  • Enablement:
    • Generate innovative ideas that drive customer engagement, GTM strategy, and internal evangelism, differentiating StarRez as a leader in the market.
    • Be the in-house expert (buyers, influencers, competitors, industry, etc.) on StarRez and our target markets.
    • Educate our sales teams on product updates and features and create sales tools / collateral to help them win.
    • Oversee marketing launches of new products/features; facilitate cross-functional efforts to increase awareness, demand, adoption, and usage.
    • Contribute to content that helps prospects understand how to use and be successful with StarRez, including website product information, use cases, best practice “recipes”, and case studies.
    • Partner with Sales Enablement to deliver training, decks, one-pagers, competitive battle cards, and playbooks to support Sales, Customer Success, and Sales Development.
    • Collaborate with individuals and teams throughout the company, including Sales, Solutions, Services, Support, Marketing and Product teams.

Minimum Requirements:

    • 7 years of experience working in student housing operations and university event management or equivalent knowledge
    • 5 years of experience of deep StarRez usage, or equivalent knowledge
    • Demonstrated ability to empathize and account for other people’s perspectives
    • Experience leveraging quantitative and qualitative data to guide decision making
    • Demonstrated ability to develop original concepts and teach them to others
    • Experience in influencing multiple stakeholders and building excellent working relationships
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a knack for crafting resonant and compelling stories.
    • Traveling required: up to 25% including possible international travel
