Your Opportunity
Stantec seeks a highly motivated Environmental Planner to join us in our Bay Area locations (Sacramento, Redding, Rocklin, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, San Jose, Chico, and Nevada City). We are looking for a team member with 5 to 10 years of experience, who has experience working within a local government or with a local government in a consulting capacity. The ideal candidate would have experience in leading a variety of analyses and evaluations related to the environmental review of a wide range of development and planning projects throughout Northern California. This is a senior-level opportunity in our ever-growing team of professionals focusing on CEQA-related projects. This opportunity places a high value on collaboration, delivery, leadership, and desire to grow. We are looking for a professional consultant with a strong working knowledge of CEQA/NEPA compliance regulations, environmental permitting, and land use.
Your Key Responsibilities

Identifying and developing new opportunities, preparing effective proposals, and actively developing new business with new and existing clients.

Training and mentoring staff on CEQA/NEPA and other planning/environmental requirements

Preparing and managing complex environmental documentation for a wide variety of local and regional projects

Working with a multi-disciplinary team

Interacting with clients on mid to large size projects (budgeting, billing, scheduling, invoicing)

Active involvement in planning/environmental professional organizations such as AEP or APA

Demonstrated confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA/NEPA and related technical areas and

Possessing existing positive relationships with southern California CEQA/NEPA lead agencies
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials

Strong research, analysis and reporting abilities.

Focused on detail-orientation skills and capable of managing large data sets.

Are self-starting, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills that can manage multi-disciplinary teams comprised of internal staff and subcontractors.

Should be familiar with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.

Experience with permitting and CEQA and NEPA.

Provide support in managing task orders/projects and delivering high quality work products to Stantec's multi-disciplinary project teams.
Education and Experience
-
5-10 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Planning or Natural Sciences or a related field

AICP, CEP, or advanced degree a plus
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
