Staffing Solutions. is Hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer Near Vernon, CA
- Prepare budgets for assigned projects, including estimating and obtaining bids to support costs, and assist the accounting department in the tracking of costs for these projects for comparison purposes.
- Participate in obtaining, reviewing, and negotiating bids from 3rd party subcontractors and vendors, and develop and maintain positive working relationships with these 3rd party subcontractors and vendors.
- Research and remain knowledgeable and current about applicable engineering codes and standards, local, State, and Federal building permits and regulations, and Company directives.
- Follow along with projects from start to completion and continually communicate with the team and management regarding the status of projects, troubleshooting, budget changes, etc.
- Coordinate the tracking, ordering, and construction of various replacement and spare components and pieces of equipment with the various Company Divisions.
- Prepare and review detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
- Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
- Confer with vendors to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to the installation of systems.
- Supervise and train drafters, technologists, and technicians.
- Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology for building and construction, mechanically functioning equipment, and production processes.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Ability to identify and determine solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to read and edit building blueprints.
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff, verbally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- PE stamps are preferred but not required
- At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
- 10-35% travel requirement
