Position Details

Full Time Nurse Practitioner at St. Luke's Clarkson Urgent Care

Description

The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing episodic care, screening and education for patients of all ages. Maintains current licensure and certification. Functions in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement. Nurse Practitioners that are sole onsite provider for patient care, will collaborate by phone with the designee physician at the closest Urgent Care Center (UCC), if needed. The Nurse Practitioner is a vital member of the healthcare team within the UCC and is committed to providing and promoting patient-centered health care. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide care to acute and chronic illness, including minor trauma as well as counseling and education to the urgent care population.
  • Provide episodic and continuous care for Occupational Health and DOT patients.
  • Identify normal and abnormal findings in history and physical exam. Order appropriate laboratory tests and radiology exams supported by evidence-based research.
  • Support and follow the most current evidence-based guidelines of practice in providing quality patient care.
  • Write prescriptions as permitted by the State of Missouri.
  • Collaborate with a UCC Physician on complex cases.
  • Document pertinent information in the medical records and ensure proper review of charting by collaborative physician or designee.
  • Participate in national, state and local level Nurse Practitioner organizations and education.
  • Communicate with the Nurse Manager to improve patient-focused care.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the UCC Medical Director.
  • The Nurse Practitioner is required to take call as follows:

    • Full-time FTE will take call 3 times per month
    • Part-time FTE will take call 2 timer per month
    • PRN will not be required to take call

    Education

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Master in Science of Advanced Nursing Practice degree required.
  • License - Certification - Registration (Text Only)

    1. Current Licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner

    Experience

  • Current Licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Master in Science of Advanced Nursing Practice degree required.
  • Problem solving skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nurse Practitioner will take into consideration the specific age-related needs of the patient. The UCC may provide care to neonates/ infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric adults.
  • Team oriented and compassionate.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Pleasant and interpersonal demeanor and ability to work with all levels of associates and leadership.

    Working Conditions

  • Employee is required to sit occasionally and stand and walk frequently.
  • Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 pounds) load occasionally.
  • Employee may be required to lift more with assistance.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to reach forward and reach overhead.
  • For repetitive action, employee is required to perform simple grasping and pushing/pulling.
  • Employee is occasionally exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work.
  • Verbal and cognitive, as well as motor coordination and manual dexterity are required.
  • Speech, hearing and near visual acuity are required.
  • May be needed to work any shift, 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm.
  • Employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens.
