Posting Details: Full Time Day Shift Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of Therapy Services and Inpatient Supervisor; Follows patient treatment protocol established at initial evaluation by registered occupational therapist, administers therapy and performs documentation. Assists in preparing patients and equipment. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
1. Provides patient care including the following: Prepares patients and equipment; assists Occupational Therapist in implementation of treatment program for each patient. Instructs the patient in exercise routines, home programs, use of adaptive equipment, and self-care activities. Instructs patients' families in these areas as necessary. Makes use of modalities available in the department. Promotes safe environment for patients and staff in the hospital. Provides liaison with nursing divisions and medical staff in regard to patient care and OT patients. (60%)
2. Records and reports patient progress and discharge notes in a timely manner. Attends scheduled patient meetings with team. (15%)
3. Assumes delegated supervisory responsibility for Occupational Therapy Assistant students. (5%)
4. Reports to Inpatient Supervisor for program development, form revisions and Quality Assurance as indicated. (10%)
5. Represents the department when indicated at professional and related conferences and meetings. (5%)
6. Performs other duties as assigned (5%)

Education:
Employee must hold an Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution and pass certification course.
Experience:
Must be certified in CPR. The assessment, care and treatment provided by the occupational therapy assistant will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The occupational therapy assistant is competent to care for patient age groups including the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric adult patient.

Employee is required to sit, stand, and walk continuously. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lb.) and medium (21-50 lb.) continuously and heavy (50 lb. ) load frequently. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lb. with assistance. Employee is required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead continuously. Employee is required to reach forward and reach overhead frequently. For repetitive action, employee is required to perform simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is occasionally exposed to electrical hazards and temperature changes. Pt is frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%)
