Staff Accountant Job Description

Apply the principles of accounting and finance to prepare and produce financial statements for both client and corporate reporting. Responsible for review of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue, Expenses and Payroll, month-end closing entries, bank reconciliations, and other accounting functions. Provides support and analysis in all phases of accounting by performing the below listed duties.

Staff Accountant Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Carries out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines
• Performs monthly bank reconciliations for all revenue and expense categories to the GL and sub systems
• Inputs, posts, reconciles and reviews all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable entries booked to either a client or corporate account
• Assists with month-end closing schedule to include: revenue reconciliation, journal entries, create monthly financial statements for each location, distribute lease payments and reporting packages as required. Backup to Accounts Receivable close processes: Paris and Integration
• Assists with the GL maintenance by reviewing journal entries and providing support for year end closing procedures and annual external audit
• Participates in reviewing, drafting, distributing and monitoring company accounting policy and procedure 
•  Assists with variance and aging reporting by providing analysis, back up documentation and status regarding action plans to remediate the variance and/or aged trial balance

Staff Accountant Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with special requests and/or projects as needed
• Assists with the design and delivery of customized reports as requested by either the Controller, senior management or the client

Staff Accountant Minimum Job Qualifications

• Minimum of three years in the Accounting field
• Solid understanding of GAAP rules
• Established experience in the areas of GL maintenance, journal entries, month end financial processing and reporting, and variance investigation and reporting
• Established experience in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Outlook and financial software system (e.g., Peachtree, Quickbooks, Great Plains, etc.) 
• Excellent oral and written communications and comprehension skills

Staff Accountant's Qualifications Desired

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field
• Background in the parking or related property management industry 
• Prior experience in upgrading and/or transitioning financial software packages

Staff Accountant's Physical Demands:

As part of performing the duties associated with this position, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands-to-fingers, handle tools or controls, reach with hands or arms, talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50lbs.
