Job Summary:
The System Administrator I (SAI) is responsible for effective installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and optimization of IT systems and applications. The SAI will mentor and lead the Technology Support Specialist in projects and advanced troubleshooting. Works collaboratively with the Technical and Informatics teams serving as the IT lead for projects, troubleshooting and system updates/upgrades. Complete customer service ticket requests with details on work performance. Adheres to and practices the SJH Corporate Compliance program and participates in Performance Improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned by IT Management.
Essential Functions:
1. Engineering and Provisioning
Configure and maintain new applications and systems in accordance with SJH standards, project and operational requirements, and in accordance with engineering team, system administrator team and IT Management. In coordination with engineering team and other members of systems team, serves as a team lead in designated projects or as designated IT team lead in projects. Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
2. Operations and Support
Performs daily systems monitoring, review systems and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs and nightly procedures. Provide escalation support to IT Technical Support Specialists as senior level tech including trouble shooting, deploying resolutions and judgment of when to escalate to engineering team. Accountable as a subject matter expert on assigned application and systems. Actively engages with vendors and the System Engineers on small projects and educational items. Documentation for projects and help desk requests are promptly enters and information shared with the team as educational opportunities arise.
3. Maintenance
Apply operating system patches and application upgrades on a regular basis. Responsible for coordination of application upgrades and applying operating system updates. Provide day to day application level management of various security systems. Document server systems and policies for departmental and organizational use. 
4. Help Desk
Provide coverage for Help Desk as needed and Tier II support for Technology Support Specialist. Helps educate Technology Support Specialist in troubleshooting end-user issues on edge devices, printers, peripherals, servers, integration, etc. with efficiency and thoroughness. Coordinates activities and provides backup support with help desk, network services or other information system staff as needed. Communicates appropriate information about computer workstation related requests to employees, physicians and other staff.
5. Security
Ensure systems are secure with the direction from vendors and standards set by the department following the security framework for the organization. Review security requirements for anti-virus applications, administration of the system and access by user by following the principal of least privilege.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Required: 
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Information Technology industry certifications.
Minimum Work Experience:
Required: 
2 years experience in a Tech Support, Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory, competent with Windows Desktop environment OR approved equivalent experience
Preferred: Prior experience in a healthcare setting, including hospitals and clinics, recent experience as a system administrator, familiarity with and/or working knowledge of VMWare server and desktop environments.
Functional Demands:
Working Conditions: Office setting. All areas of the organization. Frequent stressful situations. Staff and project management, compressed deadlines. Must be on-site at the SJH campus or other facilities to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit/stand in front of a computer for extended periods of time, handle multiple disruptions, juggle competing demanding priorities, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to crouch, stoop, and/or bend. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds as needed.
