Description

The role of Golf Course Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of every aspect of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, cart paths and the rough, as well as supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring the course remains free of pest infestations or disease outbreaks.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

• Manages the golf and grounds maintenance team
• Completes frequent disease scouting/monitoring
• Completes frequent irrigation monitoring
• Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications
• Assist with recommendations with personnel matters such as wages, reviews, warnings, and terminations
• Oversees the cleanliness of the golf course and club grounds
• Operate this department within all company, county, state and federal regulations and guidelines
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems
• Manage irrigation water and moisture levels in the soil
• Schedule and supervise the daily operations of the maintenance crew
• Apply the proper application of pesticides and fertilizers
• Work closely with the golf operation team to ensure consistent information daily
• Take ownership of all aspects of golf course and grounds maintenance on a daily basis
• All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Associates degree in turf management preferred
• At least five years’ experience in turf care preferred
• Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
• Ability to read write and speak, and communicate in basic English
• Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) certification

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Very detail oriented and thorough
• Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of members/guests
• Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
• Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly way
• Knowledge of Pesticide use
• Intensive knowledge of irrigation, pest/ disease monitoring
• Ability to lead a team efficiently and effectively
• Constantly looking for ways to improve efficiency and results
• Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time
• Must be able to stand, kneel, bend and stoop

Working Conditions:

• Mainly Outdoor
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold depending on season
• Exposure to the weather elements
• Exposure to dangerous pesticides
