Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor; clamps parts together along layout marks
• Welds parts or subassemblies according to welding diagram or blueprint
• Welds part or subassembly along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
• Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes and builds up metal parts
• Applies flux to workpiece instead of filler rod
• Welds along vertical horizontal or overhead weld lines
• Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler rod
• Cleans or degreases parts

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
• Two years of training at a Community College or Technical school
• Minimum of two years on-the-job welding (welding heavy metal/steel)
