Description
St. Clair Foods, Inc. is a premier manufacturer of refrigerated deli salads, frozen side dishes and frozen entrees, primarily for the foodservice industry. Our products are based on classic, home-made recipes, perfected with modern day technology and stringent food safety standards. We are SQF Level II certified, as well as USDA and FDA inspected and approved.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring and documenting QC data, and reporting findings related to food safety, GMP practices, food quality and food security in the assigned production or working area(s) within the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Able to plan, prioritize, complete tasks effectively and efficiently
2. Maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity
3. Perform the Pre-op and Operational Inspection procedure, assuring that the processing area is cleaned and in good operational conditions
4. Monitor St Clair food safety and food quality standards: product and environmental temperatures, weight control, allergen checks, label checks, collect retention samples, organoleptic property controls: flavor, odor, appearances; and foreign object control: metal detector and X-ray.
5. Ensure that the finished product is not processed in unsanitary conditions or with a potential for cross-contamination
6. Cover for absences and vacancies as appointed by Management
7. Participate in other Quality Assurance Programs: Sample retention inspection, QC inventory, pest control inspection, premise inspection and internal audits, cooler and freezer temperatures, etc.
8. Plan paperwork and logistics for next production day: retention sample labels, change over, allergen cleaning, etc.
9. Inform the company in case of absence or late arrival
10. Ensure compliance of the Federal and State regulations and internal company policies, including OSHA work safety and security rules
11. Other Q.C. duties as needed
Requirements
To perform the quality control job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ideal candidate should have a Bachelor of Science or Art from a four-year college or university, and at least 2 years of experience as a Quality Control Technician in a food-related business. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Basic computer skills required. The employee must be able to work flexible hours and at times flexible shifts. The employee must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make written reports.
