Spring Hills Communities is Hiring a Director of Resident Engagement Near Middletown, OH

Position SummaryResponsible for planning and implementing life enriching programs and events which provide socialization opportunities, fitness and wellness activities, educational and recreational programs, as well as spiritual life support based on the needs and preferences of the residents in the community. This position reports to the Administrator and supervises the activities departmental staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Attends work as scheduled and follows community’s call-off procedures.
  • Plan, schedule and implement a program of individual and group activities based on residents’ schedule.
  • Assess and complete the sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assigned completely, timely and accurately.
  • Use the resident assessment protocols (RAPs) to determine whether to proceed to care planning for concerns related to a resident’s activity program needs.
  • Gather data and document required ancillary assessments including but not limited to resident assessment protocol summary documentation.
  • Identify and document in the resident’s care plan, the activity interests, needs, and concerns of the resident. Care plans are reviewed and updated as necessary but at least quarterly.
  • Document all interaction with resident and/or family in the assessment, care plan and progress notes as required by federal and state requirements.
  • Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend all resident care conferences.
  • Plan and implement Reality Orientation programs when appropriate.
  • Participate in nursing restorative and rehabilitative programs.
  • Plan and conduct Residents’ Council meetings.
  • Plan and implement evening and weekend functions as necessary.
  • Take part in in-service education programs and attend all in-service session relating to Activity Program.
  • Recruit, schedule and supervise assistants and volunteers.
  • Organize and schedule community events related to residents’ interests.
  • Supervise barber and beauty parlor activities.
  • Plan, schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.
  • Plan, schedule and implement indoor and outdoor activity programs.
  • Plan and conduct activity programs to assist residents to return to the community.
  • Maintain an activity attendance record for each resident.
  • Assess needs and maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs.
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of Spring Hills PASL, LLC
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory Experience.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of dementia.
  • Exhibits effective approach and communication techniques when interacting with and providing activity programming to people with dementia.
  • Exhibits a willingness to learn and to make/accept change as needed or required, and exhibits positive attitude.
  • Strong public speaking, planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated psycho-social support skills for residents and their families.
  • Basic understanding and competence of computer skills, including Microsoft Excel & Word.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings & weekends as required.

Standing (over 2/3), walking (over 2/3), using hands to finger, handle or feel (over 2/3), reach with hands and arms (over 2/3), climb and balance (over 1/3), stoop, kneel (1/2-2/3), talk or hear (Over 2/3), taste or smell (Over 1/3). Lifting up to 10 pounds (over 2/3), Up to 25 pounds (1/3-2/3); Up to 50 pounds (under 1/3)
