SpotOn is Hiring a Senior Benefits Analyst Near Chicago, IL

The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for the administration, analysis, and delivery of SpotOn’s health & welfare and retirement programs. This role will have a significant impact in evaluating, evolving and administering SpotOn’s benefits offerings to ensure they are effective and competitive, while helping us find new ways to improve the employee experience. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Total Rewards.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and manage the administration of SpotOn’s health and welfare programs ( including medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D, health saving accounts, education reimbursement, commuter, COBRA, and benefits related to local ordinances and government programs, retirement and wellness benefit programs)
  • Monitor ongoing carrier feeds, manage discrepancy reports, resolve any inconsistencies, research root causes and make recommendations on corrective actions
  • Administer recurring and ad-hoc audits to ensure accurate processing of benefit elections, carrier interfaces, payroll files, etc.
  • Ensure compliance of SpotOn’s 401(k) plan; including preparing and completing information for annual plan audit, help prepare Form 5500, and non-discrimination testing
  • Arrange quarterly benefits committee meetings, ensure applicable items are carried out, follow up on open items bringing them to closure
  • Project manage the annual Open Enrollment process from beginning to end including drafting communications, plan design changes, system testing, answering employee questions, and auditing enrollment data
  • Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with various outside vendors and internal teams such as, HR Operations, HRIS and payroll to ensure system accuracy and compliance
  • Act as an escalation point for benefit questions or concerns. Identify trends that indicate training needs or communication opportunities for employees
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to evaluate current plans and/or design new plans. Assist in analysis and proposal on improvements in benefit strategy, taking into consideration cost analysis and utilization data. Analyze benchmarking data and provide recommendations for new programs
  • Performs regular financial reviews of benefit carrier billing to ensure accuracy of invoices and enrollment compared to change files, vendor systems, inputs and payroll
  • Help identify and troubleshoot process breakdowns, create and revise benefits process documentation, and communicate process changes to the team
  • Administer ongoing compliance filing of 5500s, SARs, Non-Discrimination Testing, ACA 1095-C filings, and other required filings to ensure compliance with federal and state laws
  • Serves as subject matter expert in local, state, and federal rules and regulations for health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leaves of absence, and worker’s compensation including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Participate in various ad-hoc projects related to benefits and other total rewards programs

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant employee benefits experience 
  • Strong knowledge of DOL, IRS, and ERISA regulations as it relates to benefit plan governance
  • Advanced level experience with Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) including formulas, pivot tables, charts and graphs
  • Experience in ADP, Greenhouse, Empower 401(k) and other HR systems a plus
  • Passionate for providing an exceptional employee experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and empathize with others and anticipate, respond, and pivot to the needs of the employees and business
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills with the ability to understand and communicate the meaning of the data being presented
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Experience supporting a multi-country employee base - US, Mexico and Poland a plus
  • Highly organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to own a project with varying levels of instruction and run with it
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive data with caution and integrity, in accordance with compliance laws and regulations

Compensation:

  • Our base pay range starts at $81,000 -$130,000 for this role
  • Please note the salary range listed is just one component of a competitive compensation package which includes a company stock plan
  • Offers will be reflective of the candidate’s location and experience
