Position Purpose:

Sonoma Raceway’s Marketing Director will work to build the reputation of Sonoma Raceway as a world-class, motorsports-focused hospitality destination while also promoting the raceway’s major race weekends as well as on-track racing and community events throughout the calendar year. Sonoma Raceway boasts more than 340 days of on-track activity each year, hosting everything from motorcycles to Ferraris to 11,000 horsepower dragsters. The Marketing Director will work to support both activities at the raceway as well as at motorsports events at Speedway Motorsports facilities.

Position Responsibility:

  • Corporate Leadership/Support - Maintain an active role on Speedway Motorsports marketing “task force” teams to help improve overall effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Sonoma Raceway Leadership/Support - Clearly define and communicate the overall raceway and event brand positioning, customer acquisition, and retention strategies, and upselling opportunities to optimize consumer and corporate revenue.
  • Actively support all aspects of Sonoma Raceway and event brands, advertising, and budgets to optimize brand positioning and key brand metrics
  • Ticketing/Camping Responsibilities - Consistently review Ticketing and Camping marketing program metrics to ensure revenue optimization for tickets and upsell products
    • Support corporate and group business leaders with ticket revenue projections and the tactics
    • Ensure ticket agents are empowered with tools and incentives which help with the achievement of sales and satisfaction goals
  • Communications - Support Corporate Communications and Social Media teams to mutually develop the overarching strategy focused on ticket sales and sponsorship support plus opportunities to improve social media metrics, collect data, promote ticket offers, promote raceway experiences and engage media.
  • Consistently work with the Communications department to optimize the reach and engagement for campaigns
  • Media/Advertising - Support the media planning process, develop media strategies, and support media negotiations with vendors ensuring the most effective marketing mix and securing the greatest value-add possible from media partners
  • Owned Asset/Analytics Management - Support the creation, updating, and implementation of our website, app, and social media best practices to optimize ticket sales, renewals, impressions, or engagement.
  • Corporate Sales Support - Consistently attend Corporate Sales meetings to support corporate partner activation needs while supporting new business acquisition needs

Requirements:

  • Five to seven years of experience as a Manager or Director of Marketing, Communications or Digital Media or other senior marketing roles
  • Demonstrate experience in designing and implementing successful marketing campaigns
  • Solid working knowledge of SEO, web analytics and Google Adwords, and digital marketing
  • Experience with CRM software and digital marketing tools and techniques
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong analytics and project management skills
  • Strategic mindset
