Spatial Front Inc. (SFI) is a fast-growing Small Business providing IT support to Federal State, and local governments. We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support one of our NOAA contracts. NOAA is currently working to upgrade their system from RedHat 7 to RedHat 8.

Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide Linux and IT system administration by configuring, maintaining, and managing infrastructure, storage, and applications on physical and virtual cloud servers (AWS).
• Implement and maintain task automation/simplification and systems monitoring/alerts using shell scripting and configuration management tools.
• Participates in systems design and assessment as well as identifying, planning, and integrating new technologies and/or processes for optimization, increased efficiency and meeting future requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation about current environment setup, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
• Protect systems against threats and risks by monitoring vulnerability scans and alerts to perform security vulnerability remediation through patching and updating of operating systems and applications.
• Conducts routine software audits of Linux servers for compliance as well as system log analysis, forwarding, monitoring and consolidation.
• Install, configure, and maintain libraries and applications.
• Manage end user accounts, permissions and access rights using Active Directory
• Provide technical support to end-users by assisting with IT systems issues and effectively articulating and presenting IT projects, options, and solutions to potentially non-technical users.
• Work well on a team, engaging in knowledge sharing, mentoring of junior administrators, and providing backup support for other team members.

Requirements

Required Skills 

• At least 8 years of experience that demonstrates a high proficiency and knowledge of Linux system administration preferably with RHEL 7 and 8
• Working knowledge of AWS S3
• Experience creating and modifying:
• Ansible playbooks and roles for Linux Administration
• Terraform plans for resource deployment
• Scripts using Perl, Bash, Python etc.
• Experience with RHEL-derivative Linux operating systems.
• Willingness to learn and keep up with emerging technology and security requirements.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills in a complex IT environment to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with minimal direction
• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Exceptional attention to detail with excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Self-starter who is results oriented and can deliver tasks independently
• Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer
• Science, Software Engineering, Information
• Management Systems or a related disciplineRed Hat Certifications and experience with Red Hat Virtualization/OpenShift
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications and/or experience with AWS services (EC2,
• VPC, EFS, IAM, S3, Security Groups etc.) configuration, administration and troubleshooting using AWS Console and CLI scripting.
• Experience with web applications such as Apache, load balancers and proxies/reverse proxies
• Knowledge of intermediate level Network concepts and the ability to troubleshoot ACLs, tables and firewalls.
• Experience with NetApp Storage administration

Education

• BA/BS in Technical, Engineering or Management field

Other Information:

• The salary for this position is $90,000 - $116,000 annually
