Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer - Application Development is a critical team member within the Q SaaS Platform team, focusing on concept-to-Production delivery of UI features. This role for a full-stack engineer who is comfortable working in an all-cloud environment.

The individual would work day-to-day with other front-end and back-end engineers. They would work closely with the Team Lead - Application Development to build out and maintain our software architecture. On a weekly basis, the individual would work with team members in Product Management, DevOps, QA, and Data Engineering.

In the case that questions, issues, or bugs arise in their work, the individual is expected to investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and rectify bugs. This is a Senior role, so the person is expected to actively participate in code reviews, architectural reviews, and other technical leadership activities.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

• Understand product feature requirements, actively clarify scope and behaviors
• Deliver software features (or incremental work) daily and work within Source Control setup (GitHub) using team-standard software stacks and libraries
• Scope out efforts and potential barriers as product features are developed
• Attend daily standups and diligently unblock issues as they arise
• Deliver completed features and fixes on a two-week Sprint cycle
• Code Review; Ownership; Architectural Design

Non-Technical Skills, Qualifications, and Experience – Mandatory

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with multiple simultaneous active projects
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with focus on detail-oriented technology communications
• Curiosity and interest in data, technology, and product development
• Highly collaborative and willing to work with a variety of audiences across teams
• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant working experience
• Willingness to work within standard technology platforms (GitHub, Jira)
• Willingness to communicate within standard communications platforms (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint)

Technical Skills – Must Have

• React Experience (React hooks are required)
• SQL
• SCSS/CSS CSS Module experience
• Fundamental understanding of async calls proper handling AJAX
• AWS experience, especially with Lambda
• Fundamental understanding of web application design and MVC
• Distributed system / micro service design experience
• Webpack 5 config plugin/loader experience
• D3 / dynamic visualization component design
• Solid NoSQL/SQL experience & experience with ORM/ODM tooling
• Expertise in Javascript & Python web frameworks such as Express, FastAPI, Flask.
• Experience writing high coverage testing suites using tooling such as Jest, Mocha, Pytest, as well as automation libraries such as cypress.
• Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering highly preferred. Also considered any Engineering/Math/Physics/Stats Degree. Plus at least five years of experience.
