Application Requirements & Essential Functions for Shooting Sports Buyer:

• Evaluate, order, price and plan product selection to meet margin goals for Kittery Trading Post based on seasonal and regional needs
• Responsible for maintaining proper merchandise selection and best in stock position to balance inventory levels and maximize sales
• Maintain close communication with vendors to be the first to market with regional trends and to stay compliant with regulation changes
• Work with vendors to develop new concepts for fixtures, vendor displays, and retail signage
• Prepare various reports and presentations as needed
• Calculate the profitability of merchandise programs at retail and determine programs to be discontinued and those to be expanded
• Work with buy groups to achieve best possible margins
• Meet all company objectives regarding inventory levels, inventory turns and margin goals
• Safe performance of duties, demonstrating care for self, coworkers, customers, and property
• Shooting Sports Buyer must maintain a neat and clean work environment
• Maintains current industry knowledge and trends by attending trade shows
• Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President

General Summary:

Shooting Sports Buyer candidates should have knowledge and experience in the Shooting Sports industry as well as retail business practices. Responsible for the negotiation of pricing, selecting appropriate mix, controlling of open to buy, sell through, inventory levels, gross profit and markdowns. The Buyer will work with store management to merchandise sales floor in order to increase sales and keep the floor fresh and up to date. Frequent contact with retail and warehouse management as well as our outside vendors/sales representatives. Works under the general direction of the Vice President.

This position, Shooting Sports Buyer, will be purchasing the following categories: Firearms, Optics, Ammunition, Firearms Accessories and others as assigned by management. Knowledge of these products and strong purchasing principles a must. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including skills in operating MS office suite and various software packages. Ability to prioritize multiple projects while managing and evaluating product flow. Trade show travel required. Must have ability to effectively function as a team player while maintaining an efficient work environment.
