DEPARTMENT: Clinical Informatics
F ACILITY: Tift Regional Medical Center
WORK TYPE: Full Time
SHIFT: Day
HOURS: 8:00am - 5:00pm
SUMMARY:
The Clinical Informaticist utilizes clinical knowledge and patient care experience to support and train end users on the hospital EMR and other supporting systems. The Clinical Informaticist position is an entry level role in the Clinical Informatics Department. The Clinical Informaticist is responsible to see that the goals set for Clinical Information systems are met. This individual will work closely with the clinicians, physicians and IT staff to ensure integration of technology into the patient care process. The Clinical Informaticist position is responsible for the training, implementation, support, updating, and integrity of clinical systems under the supervision of the Director of the Department. The Clinical Informaticist serves as a liaison to trans-disciplinary hospital committees and supports achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works with clinicians from all departments and the clinical application team to identify areas where clinical information systems can effectively support and enhance their clinical process.
  • Implements plans for design, implementation, evaluation, modification and testing of clinical applications in collaboration with the Clinical Applications team.
  • Identifies and communicates resource needs effectively to leadership.
  • Implements plans to meet nursing staff and physician learning needs in a cooperative effort with education, IT and other applicable departments.
  • Provides training, education, and support to physicians and nursing staff and any contracted physician or nursing staff on the hospital EHR.
  • Prepares educational materials, job aids and other supportive documentation for users on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains current and accurate documentation for users.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to provide ongoing education and assist in issue resolution.
  • Participates in rounding and provides at the elbow support in real time.
  • Works with inter-disciplinary staff to insure that clinical systems support compliance with identified standards and facilitate achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Participates proactively in issue prevention and problem resolution through effective use of the components of the nursing process.
  • Takes support call and attend meetings during and after regular working hours as required and asssigned.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
EDUCATION:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
CREDENTIALS:
  • Registered Nurse with authorization to practice in the state of Georgia
OTHER INFORMATION:
* Requires four years nursing experieince.
  • Must pursue obtaining Bachelor's degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire.
