Accounting Specialist is responsible for accounting and bookkeeping operations for Southern Plains Tribal Health Board. Performs a variety of day-to-day accounting duties related to the fiscal management of federally funded grants and state contracts.
Summary of Duties:
Knowledge: Must be able to apply advanced reasoning skills to problem solving and use basic and advanced accounting skills; demonstrate professional knowledge of accounting methods; must be able to plan and coordinate education and training events; have a strong understanding of healthcare quality and best practices.
Must be able to collaborate with in-house staff and programs and outside agencies and partners clearly using knowledge of professional communication methods. Demonstrate knowledge to use data and prepare and review reports, tables, presentations, or publications that effectively and clearly provide an effective communication of the information.

Must have knowledge and capacity to develop a plan of activities based on project needs and coordinate training activities for individuals and entities outside of the SPTHB organization.
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience: 2 years professional experience working in office setting using Generally Accepted Accounting principles. Experience using a variety of computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) a must. Accounting or finance experience is required.
Preferred: Associate’s Degree plus of three or more years of experience in accounting and non-profit or grant funded finances is highly preferred. Experience with tribal organizations and/or not-for-profit agency is desired.
Supervisory Authority: None
Travel: In and out of state travel may be required in the fulfillment of job requirements and training.
