The Opportunity The Senior Financial Analyst links strategic and operational plans through business partnering and provides business management with value-added financial services. You will provide strategic insights and analysis to add value and help guide business decisions, and leads and delivers financial planning, relevant financial metrics, and high impact analysis within the department to support effective and insightful business decision-making. You will work closely with financial leadership and related contacts within the teams. We ask that you have a great deal of interaction with senior level management, and, therefore, this person must be able to build exceptionally strong relationships with other members and main leaders throughout the university. Primary Responsibilities: Work in collaboration with other departments throughout the University as an important financial point of contact on multiple projects, committees and teams Collaborate with functional leaders in developing their annual plan and forecasts Develop and deliver operational metrics, expense analysis and other important metrics for several departments, projects and teams, Help leaders to develop financial action plans for improvement and optimization including return on investment (Return on investment) models and ad hoc analysis Analyze financial performance versus forecast and plan, investigate variances, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership Help oversee the annual budget process Work closely with the AVP to support complex analyses to support operations, projects, new opportunities and improving profitability. This may include scenario planning, cost benefit analyses, cost allocations, trend analyses, resource and capacity planning and long-term forecasting. Other responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of five years of progressive accounting and finance experience with four years of supervisory experience Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college or university Required skills in financial planning, financial modeling and analysis, and capital planning Strong analytical and modeling skills and the proven ability to develop and interpret financial reports, analyze large amounts of data, and recommend solutions. Strategic thinker who can influence management thinking and enforce change. Experience turning complex, and ambiguous information into clear recommendations. Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong organizational and management abilities. Ability to work in a results-oriented, metrics driven environment. Ability to work autonomously with some guidance. Must be able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively. Must be committed to maintaining a strong culture of customer service, communication, and business partnering with all members of the organization. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in finance accounting, business administration, or equivalent field; MBA/CFA/CPA preferred. Specialized finance and accounting knowledge.
