On the most beautiful college campus in the country, – from teaching, learning and to creativity, performance and athletic endeavor.About the Department:Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences connects students with forward thinkers and global problem solvers through interdisciplinary education and partnerships that begin here, at the heart of the SMU campus, and extend globally.About the Position:This role is an on-campus, in-person position.The Undergraduate Recruiter & Scholarship Coordinator will assist the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Recruiting and Communications, the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruiting, and the Marketing Specialist in our teams' efforts to market, recruit, and yield targeted undergraduate students to Dedman College of Humanities & Sciences at SMU. This position will also assist the Assistant Dean and Assistant Director with the coordination of the Dedman College Scholars Program selection and departmental scholarship coordination and award process, alumni engagement, and creation of promotional materials.Essential Functions:
    Assists the Assistant Dean and Assistant Director in the recruitment of prospective students through various functions, assists in planning both on and off campus recruitment activities (including seasonal travel), meets with new prospective students and families by traveling to local, state and nationwide high schools, college fairs and recruiting events. Assists with day-to-day operations of the Office of Recruiting and Communications, including daily visits from current students’ and/or Dedman College Scholars, student worker projects, planning recruiting events and assisting with media communications (including marketing pieces, publications, web sites, social networking, etc.).Coordinates Dedman College aspect of prospective students’ visits to campus, both individual and/or group, in-office visits and daily presentations for prospective students’ and families and work closely with other departments on campus for various functions and events.Develops and builds relationships with high school, college/community college counselors and teachers, maintain databases and analyze data to track recruiting/admission trends and activities. Assists in maintaining the current communication continuum and assists with creation of new communication programs, including print, online, and in-person efforts.Coordinates the selection, communication, and interview process of the Dedman College Scholars Program. Assists Assistant Dean with Dedman College departmental scholarship applications, this includes administrative duties, award selection, fund management, and scholarship renewals.Assists with overall recruiting strategy by corresponding with alumni, faculty, current and prospective students, and developing reports. Aids with Recruiting Office clerical responsibilities including, but are not limited to, answering incoming phone calls, coordinating campus visitations, maintaining financial records for the office, and coordination of mailings. Performs administrative duties such as activity reports, travel and expense reports, ordering promotional supplies, and other duties as assigned.Occasional evening/hours will be required for events. 
Qualifications
Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree is required. One year of work experience is required. Work in admissions, recruiting or marketing is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external constituents. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must demonstrate strong presentation skills with the ability to speak to large groups. A strong customer service orientation and commitment to the cultivation of relationships with students, parents, teachers, counselors, faculty and staff are essential. Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Candidate must demonstrate commitment to representing the University in a professional and positive manner. Candidate must possess superb analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and interpret recruiting trends. Candidate understanding of CRM software as a customer relationship management tool is preferred. A strong working knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential for developing mail merge documents and other reports as needed. Physical and Environmental Demands:
