As a Department Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for oversight of daily practice operations of more than one practice/location, or primarily responsible for oversight of both the clinical and non-clinical teams. Provides assistance for the financial aspects of patient accounts. Perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned. Perform the necessary duties of Revenue Cycle to ensure billing is sent timely, including verification of charges and coding, working with the Business Office as needed. Ensure changes (insurances, processes, policies, etc.) are communicated timely and accurately to staff, and aids in ensuring optimal efficiency is maintained throughout the practice, alerting Manager of concerns. Assign tasks accordingly. Maintain good inventory control of supplies. Is responsible for detecting, observing and reporting compliance variances to Manager, Physician Practices or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Office, or Hospital Hotline. Provides direct supervision to the team members in the practice and works collaboratively with the Manager, Physician Practices. Has knowledge of office processes and Health System policies and is able to constructively coach staff and address performance issues when needed. Demonstrates leadership skills to provide necessary supervision of staff. Effectively manages staffing needs, including scheduling for all staff and time maintenance. Collaborate with other Health System departments when necessary (e.g. Information Systems, Facilities, Safety and Security, Medical Records) and other SGPA locations, assisting in requests when needed (staffing, supplies, special events, etc.). All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, and national patient safety standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Perform all duties expected of the Medical Office Assistant
  • Perform the necessary duties of Revenue Cycle to ensure billing is sent timely, including verification of charges and coding working with the Business Office as needed.
  • Monitor time and attendance, approved planned time off, and manage unscheduled leaves including arranging coverage.
  • Handle customer service opportunities including patient complaints/concerns and service recovery.
  • Detect, observe, and report compliance variances to Physician Practice Manager or upward through the chain of command.
  • Work in conjunction with the Physician Practice Manager to complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Have a good knowledge of Health System policies and office processes with the ability to constructively coach staff and address performance issues when necessary.

Job Requirements:

What you will need:

  • Minimum of 1 year as a Department Support Coordinator I within the Health System or > 3 years supervisory experience in a medical practice or medical billing office required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Coding using ICD-10 and CPT code books. Positive interpersonal communication skills, computer literate, medical terminology, medical coding, ability to operate office equipment (scanner, calculator, fax, copier, telephone, and computer). Supervisory experience preferred.
