Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager works closely with the VP of Pipeline and Facilities Services to help lead the company's business development initiatives; manage the company’s growth and sales activity; liaise between the company’s internal teams and play an active role in tactical brainstorming and new business pitches.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships, or new products and services.
  • Creating strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities.
  • Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs, and developing proposals to address these needs.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with current clients.
  • Pitching sales and products to new and existing clients.
  • Attending conferences and events to build relationships with industry partners and stay up to date with new trends.
  • Creating sales forecasts and actively working towards reaching them.
  • Possessing a strong understanding of the company’s services, the competition in the industry, and positioning.
  • Ensure information moves fluidly across the organization by preparing briefings for all meetings, transferring knowledge from meetings to appropriate team members, and liaising between the VP and President.
  • Provide strategic support to the VP in preparation for meetings, new business pitches, and presentations. Stay abreast of all relevant topics/projects within the industry.
  • Project forecast, project opportunities, and project risks.

Qualifications/Special Knowledge Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and leadership skills; self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent negotiation and client relationship skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills; Customer focused mindset.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of effective selling strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated success managing inventory, including auditing, forecasting, and planning.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking, always looking for the next Big Idea.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably marketing or Business Management.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in business development and marketing within an agency environment.
  • Experience with experiential marketing preferred.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
  • Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 15 pounds frequently.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel.
