ABOUT THE POSITION:
The South Sound YMCA is looking for a cause driven leader to join our team.

Under the direction of the Executive Director – Branch Operations, you will be the key leader in driving a transformative Y experience by energizing employees and volunteers, collaborating with partners, and stimulating growth and innovation. You will implement a blend of both strategic-level thinking and a hands-on approach to day-to-day management of people and programs and be the primary relationship manager for key stakeholders and external partners.
As Senior Director of the Shelton Family YMCA, you will be a transformative leader responsible for strategic and operational effectiveness that ensures high-quality membership and program growth and engagement that makes a positive difference in the lives of families, children, and seniors.
Key skills for this role include project management, collaboration, strategy development, critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, initiative, good judgment, independent decision making and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high volume of work.
Your ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community is critical, as is a track record of building authentic, constructive relationships. You will possess the necessary insights and skills of modern management - such as delegation and continuous improvement - to achieve the goals and the objectives of the organization through the efforts of other people.

Position Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide leadership of day-today operations, overseeing membership and programs, facilities, and marketing through direct staff or Association departments.
  • Lead the Shelton Branch Management Team and be the full on-site leader of branch operations.
  • Develop and direct quality member engagement strategies and programs that support Y goals and meet community needs. Direct branch marketing and communication efforts in conjunction with Association Marketing team.
  • Write, lead, manage, and be accountable for assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.
  • Provide leadership to Association diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and mentor employees. Review and evaluate staff performance and develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Participate in Association fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Association Philanthropy Team.
  • Work with Association Facilities team to ensure high standards maintenance, safety, and cleanliness are set and that all requirements for regulatory codes and licenses are met.
  • Work to strengthen the communities the Y serves, especially those communities who are typically underserved/underrepresented.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values by developing and executing programs aligned with the strategic plan, cultivating community partners, and meeting local community needs. Advance our youth development, healthy living, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
  • Provide staff support and leadership for the Mason County Branch Advisory Board.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years progressive managerial experience – preferably with YMCA/JCC/Kroc Center/Boys & Girls Club/Rec Center, or similar community serving organization.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including board development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations and program development/management.
  • Ability to create transformative Y Experience that builds loyal members, energizes employees & volunteers, inspires donors, and stimulates growth & innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability in cross-functional work across operations groups and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coach people mangers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations and stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with one or more core programs of the Y, including but not limited to: membership, health and wellbeing, aquatics, youth sports, family programming, and any additional branch-specific programs.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification must be earned within first 60 days of employment.
  • CPO/AFO preferred.
