Description

* Practice Optometry in accordance with all state board rules and regulations, and the clinical guidelines set forth by the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.

* Comply with HIPAA policies and maintain complete/accurate patient records.

* Ensure patients are scheduled in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP- Resource Scheduling).

* Ensure office quality systems are maintained and claims are accurate/processed according to Standard Operating Procedures (MVC claims, equipment, patient records, EMR).

* Establish a positive and professional doctor/patient relationship.

* Provide highest level of quality, patient care as it relates to overall general/ocular health.

* Perform preliminary testing when needed to ensure proper patient flow and minimize wait time.

* Address patients’ visual life-style needs (spectacles, contact lenses, sun) and prescribe to meet/exceed those needs. Make the appropriate lens recommendations during the patient handoff to the retail team or OD Tech/Clinical Specialist.

* Address all patients’ ocular medical conditions and prescribe to those needs and/or refer appropriately to other medical professionals as indicated.

* Work in partnership with store GM and staff to create a positive associate and patient environment. Foster a workplace that allows for open communication and encourages different viewpoints in which people from all backgrounds feel valued and supported.

* Accept walk-in patients and fulfill daily exam demand by working an assigned schedule which includes nights, weekends and Holidays as appropriate.

* Demonstrate critical thinking, sound judgement and practice issue based problem solving to support the growth of the patients, exams per hour, availability and Optomap results

* Support the store GM with management of Clinical/Technician associates including, but not limited to interviewing and training to ensure a seamless patient experience and partnership in driving results.

Requirements

* Doctor of Optometry degree, O.D.

* 1-3 years of clinical practice experience with current knowledge of Optometric technology and practices

*Strong communication skills, verbal/written

* Strong management/leadership/organization skills

* Valid, state Optometric license and TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent) level license in the state of practice

* Successful completion of background check/credentialing process

* Business aptitude, self-discipline, and the ability to deliver outstanding patient care

* Collaborate with Store Manager, Regional Director and Associates

* Work flexible schedule(s) to meet business demands and inside working conditions

* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, manual dexterity, speak clearly

* Calculations/Manipulating numbers, problem solving/reasoning, patient/Customer service aptitude

* Work within needed time frames with interruptions and deadlines

* Ability to think logically in following procedures and instruction Training Requirements (where applicable)

* Training/Ability to diagnose/treat/manage eye disease and refer patients to other health care practitioners as necessary

* Maintain state Optometric license, accreditation and TPA level licensure

* Meet State Continuing Education requirements

* Company Compliance Training, Privacy Training, Medicare Fraud & Abuse Training.
