South Carolina Coastal Conservation League is Hiring a Marketing and Events Coordinator Near Charleston, SC

Organization Description:

From sandy beaches and salt marshes to freshwater swamps and farmland, the Coastal Conservation League is working to respond to rapid growth and development, as well as impacts from a changing climate on the South Carolina coastal plain. We work from our headquarters in Charleston, our legislative office in Columbia, our South Coast office in Beaufort, which covers Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties, our North Coast office, which works across Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Williamsburg, and Florence counties, and our food hub, GrowFood Carolina, in Charleston. Our team of professionals works across the coastal plain to promote clean energy, protect land, water, and wildlife, build strong cities and towns, and support local food and farmers to build healthy, resilient communities.

Our mission is to protect the health of the natural resources of the South Carolina coastal plain and ensure a high quality of life for all of the people who live in and love this special place.

Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating and managing events and developing, creating, and completing marketing tasks under the direction of the Director of Communications for the Coastal Conservation League and all its programs and brands. Many of these tasks include but are not limited to: creative and graphic design of digital and print communications, planning and delivering special public and private events, website management, and social media management.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for creating and developing communication and marketing materials for social media, email, digital content creation, photography, videography, advertising, website management, presentations, and print materials.
  • Responsible for managing and updating the organization’s brand and adherence to brand standards.
  • Onboarding and offboarding of staff to include but not limited to: creating business cards, name tags, updating staff profiles on the website, and other related tasks.
  • Identify, create, and maintain an inventory of brand merchandise.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop communications and messaging needs of the organization that advances and brings attention to issues including but not limited to: conservation, equitable land use, and environmental advocacy.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and development teams to develop marketing materials that promote fundraising campaigns.
  • Responsible for managing interactions with all followers on social media avenues to include but not limited to: website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Responsible for videography and photography management to include but not limited to: creating, editing, posting, and managing online content.
  • Responsible for online presence management.
  • Collaborate with Director of Communications to identify, develop, and manage online advertising.
  • Develop, oversee, and execute events, including, but not limited to: donor engagement and cultivation, community engagement, and fundraising events.
  • Provide support to Programs and Development for tabling events, sponsorships, and larger meetings by maintaining event materials, scheduling, and coordinating as appropriate.
  • Manage events budget to include but not limited to: managing overall budget, approving invoices, making purchases related to print items, advertising, and necessary subscriptions.
  • Identify, retain, and manage vendors as needed.
  • Attend and participate in events as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Authorities:

  • Authority to approve, negotiate and manage vendor relationships and invoices in relation to events coordination.
  • Manage events budget.

Competencies:

  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Excellent photography and videography content management skills.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in marketing, art, graphic design, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience.
  • Experience creating, planning, and present all scales of events.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and other design software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with social media and website management.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing and events planning and coordination.
  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Experience with measuring and utilizing social media analytics.

Work Environment

The position operates in a professional office environment located in Charleston, SC.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel

Some local travel may be required.
