Safety Coordinator

Safety Coordinator is responsible for tasks related to safety and environmental hazards in the workplace as well as administrative needs for Regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, audits, and permits for EHS.

Essential Job Functions

• Coordinate accident and incident investigation and assist in reporting corrective actions
• Implement the environmental, health and safety training programs
• Coordinate and present general safety, health, and facility training to all levels of the organization as required by federal and state regulation
• Coordinate monthly safety inspections
• Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected
• Assist in the maintenance of all required logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
• Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment
• Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety
• Monitor industry regulatory issues
• Participate in institutional professional development and training
• Provide advice and assist all company management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working by providing daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level
• Serve as chair on safety committees/councils
• Support facility maintenance, growth and expansion; permitting, recycling, waste minimization, safety equipment, and regulatory compliance
• Manage and maintain company sustainability information and oversee reporting activities

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, or related field
• 2 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment leading environmental and safety compliance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Safety Certification a plus
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
• Working knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 certification
• Working knowledge of federal and state regulations including but not limited to CFR 21, cGMP, ISO, OSHA, EPA and European Directives
