Job Description Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing all food items to the Executive Chef’s and hotel standards. Job Description Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include: Key Job Functions Prepare and cook orders for daily operations Maintain constant quality control of all food prepared and cooked ensuring it is to standards Complete necessary food and station preparation Prepare and display buffet food items according to the hotel standards Support any position in the Kitchen that needs help Maintain the highest standards and requirements of hygiene and safety regulations Ensure efficient and accurate use of produce and equipment in and around the kitchen Maintain knowledge of all menus Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments May occasionally interact directly with guests Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes Control food usage to minimize waste Deliver Passionate & Engaging Service to our Guests You will be passionate and truly engaged in taking care of our guests, recognizing individual guests and anticipating their unique needs to exceed their expectations You will consistently deliver our GUEST model: Greet or welcome everyone, warmly with a smile Use eye and ear contact and guest’s name Establish/anticipate needs Solve and own all requests/complaints Thank everyone Build solid relationship with your Colleagues Treat colleagues with respect and dignity Balance team and individual responsibilities Exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives Support everyone's efforts to succeed. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description. Qualifications and Skills A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency. Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates. Strong communication skills Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor Must be available for various shifts including early morning, late nights, double shifts, occasional triple shifts, occasional split shifts, weekends, holidays, and long hours. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group environments to customers, clients, and or employees of organizations that we serve. Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances are used frequently Food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
