Salary Range: $187,200 - $208,000 per year

Location: Dublin, CA - Hybrid or Remote

Job Summary:

As a Solution Enterprise Architect, you will define solution options to enable project delivery of major initiatives with large-scale enterprise impacts, drive technology strategic planning to meet business priorities and contribute to roadmap planning activities to ensure alignment between IT technology strategy and business priorities. Drive and participate in vendor selection, including evaluation, selection, and solution architecture (application and technology) to address business needs in merchandising, supply chain planning and operations, and corporate applications. This position is a highly visible role with broad engagement across our IT and business teams and externally with technology providers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Define the Solution Architecture for major initiatives to address current and future business needs and priorities. Design minimum viable architecture by submitting candidate conceptual architectures, validating hypotheses, and iterating solution options. Contribute to large-scale initiatives that have enterprise impacts.
• Coordinate the Technology Strategic Roadmap Planning process with business portfolios and drive iterative planning to meet business priorities, report end-of-life application system risks, and ensure risk mitigation planning.
• Provide enterprise architecture consultancy for strategic projects across programs and business portfolios.
• Address key enterprise architecture aspects, including feasibility insights, business processes and strategies, value streams, and how supporting technologies fit together and evolve over time.
• Perform business capability and value stream analysis at the strategic, operational, and organizational levels to steer decision-making toward the evolution of future state architecture.
• Participate in the 5-year planning and annual budgeting process. Provide actionable recommendations on initiatives to drive targeted business outcomes.
• Create various architecture artifacts including, but not limited to, Technology reference models, Business Capability Models, Conceptual Architecture, and Logical Architecture.
• Collaborate with IT and Business Partners to define enablers in the roadmap plan that explore technical options, build the architecture runway, and provide early feedback to meet roadmap milestones.
• Establish and manage business and IT partner relationships. Build trust, identify needs and expectations, and manage the delivery process.
• Manage competing demands through negotiation and compromise to ensure that the holistic needs of the organization are met. Bring knowledge of retail industry best practices and apply that information when discussing solutions that may address those needs.
• Ensure the completion of architectural and project deliverables on time and within budget and that anticipated business outcomes are achieved. Responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for Agile Release Trains.
• Participate in vendor assessments for evaluating SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions and participate in RFI (request for information) and RFP (request for proposal) processes.
• Create solution designs that leverage company architecture standards and services that meet key project design criteria (Availability, Recoverability, Scalability, Performance) and can be properly supported by the IT engineering, support, and operations teams throughout the project's lifecycle.
• Provide architectural and technical input for the definition, estimation, and delivery of projects.
• Drive the Enterprise Architecture process and evangelize the architecture community of practice.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture in the Retail industry and 15 years combined in delivering IT Technologies, Solution architecture, or systems
• Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree is a plus.
• Deep understanding and experience in end-to-end supply chain functions (Plan-Source-Make-Deliver) with a focus on supply chain management, operations, and logistics
• Demonstrated experience in Supply Chain Planning, Transportation, Logistics, and DC/Warehouse operations; In-depth knowledge of the critical components of logistics: Transport, Inventory, Warehousing, Automation, and Analytics
• Experience with Integration Architecture of different Fleet Management Systems, Multiagent Orchestration platforms, and WMS
• Understanding of Robotics: AGVs, AMRs, and Material Handling systems are preferred
• Demonstrated Enterprise Architecture experience in Retail or a related industry
• Experience and knowledge of other Retail functions such as Merchandising, Planning, and Store systems is a big plus
• Knowledge of business ecosystems, applications, On-Prem and Cloud technologies, SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and analytics
• Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks
• Good understanding of Agile Architecture and Product delivery approaches
• Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools, and model repositories
• Work experience with major retailers or via a technology consulting company
