Accounting Manager

Solugenix is assisting a client, a prestigious Non-profit educational organization in their search for an Accounting Manager. This is a direct-hire opportunity based out of La Mirada, CA (Onsite).

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the general accounting function of the Finance Department. The Accounting Manager will have hands-on accounting duties, directs and controls the general ledger, month-end close, payroll, travel expense accounting, grant accounting, contract compliance monitoring, audit coordination and preparation, works closely with the Associate Director of Business Analysis, and supports management’s need for special reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least two to three years of supervisory experience.
• 5 years or more of accounting experience.
• Experienceworking for or with Telecom Companies is ideal
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with general ledger and financial close process.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Knowledge of MS office applications.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Knowledge of Paychex, ADP, other payroll systems, and QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• Supervised Payroll Administrator, and Accounting Clerk.
• Ensure that all supervised personnel are aware of and adhere to general security principles, as well as Client-specific security policies, both established and evolving.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:

month-end, quarter-end, and fiscal year-end processes

oversee and approve payroll distribution

create and maintain accounting policy and procedure manual

coordinate and support the completion of annual financial audits

support and provide necessary information for government-related or outside audits

handle internal and external stakeholder inquiries

reviews and monitors the aging of accounts payable, accounts receivables, and accruals

cash receipts control and recording

maintenance and control of general ledger

providing information for cash management

balance sheet account reconciliations

• Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing internal financial reports or statements and working with the vendor to complete external financial statement compilation.
• Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles, and internal control processes.
• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
• Meet financial accounting objectives.
• Assign projects to direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Protect Personally Identifiable Information, and other data considered Client’s Protected Information.
• Ability to consider, understand and prioritize security (and privacy, where applicable) principles, practices, and procedures in all aspects of your role with the client.
• Take individual responsibility, consideration, and awareness, as appropriate to the position, for the security of client and computer systems, the backbone of the system, Client network equipment, and Client computing accounts; for the security and privacy of Client’s data and data about client employees; and the security and privacy of all systems, networks, and data about Client Associates and peers.
• Look for opportunities, procedures, and tools to improve the Client's privacy and security practices.
• Report any concerns about Client security and privacy to your manager, the Client Security Team, and/or Client Executive Management.
• Work closely with the Client’s Security Team to identify, discuss, and implement software tools and solutions in support of the Client’s networks, network security designs, and implementations of network security policies, procedures, and technologies.
