Solid Power is seeking a Research Technician to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Research Technician will be tasked with assisting R&D personnel on a multitude of projects related to the development of high energy cells. 

Job Duties

• Contribute to the development of high energy cells including electrode fabrication, cell assembly, and cell testing under the guidance of scientists
• Contribute to the development of new anode active materials including synthesis and formulation chemistry
• Characterize materials and processes using techniques such as XRD, FTIR, SEM, BET, DSC, TGA, and impedance spectroscopy
• Analyze and interpret data. Communicate results to the larger team.
• Learn and apply principles of electrochemistry and materials science to solve problems
• Safely operate lab equipment including ovens, environmental chambers, presses, mixers, and glove boxes
• Follow all safety protocols
• Maintain complete and accurate records of experiments
• Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas
• Document and follow standard operating procedures. Assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, physics, material science, engineering or a related discipline. Previous laboratory or industry experience is desirable.
• Experience with electrochemistry, coating, synthesis, or characterization is a plus.
• Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence
• Hands-on experience working with material process development. Experience with gloveboxes, air-sensitive materials, and/or battery materials is a plus.
• Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and job performance

Salary Range: $34,000 - $79,000/year
