Solid Power is Hiring a Laboratory Technician (R&D-Electrode) Near Louisville, CO

Description

Solid Power is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Laboratory Technician will be tasked with assisting R&D personnel on a multitude of projects related to the development and characterization of new cathode materials. 

Job Duties

  • Contribute to the development of new solid-state cathode materials by conducting synthesis and characterization under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Contribute to the continued development of pilot scale processes through executing targeted experiments aimed at understanding process limits and tolerances.
  • Perform basic materials characterization including x-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, impedance spectroscopy, and others.
  • Safe operation of various lab equipment including ball mills, furnaces, and glove boxes.
  • Conform to all safety precautions and protocols.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation.
  • Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.
  • Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, material science, or a related discipline and 2 years’ experience in the chemical industry desirable.
  • Knowledge of structural and/or synthetic chemistry. Experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, DSC, and/or EIS is a plus.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence.
  • Hands-on experience working with material synthesis and process development; experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials, and/or solid-state synthesis is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.
  • A highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Salary Range: $39,000 - $83,000/year
