Solid Power is Hiring an Engineering Technician III Near Louisville, CO

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking an Engineering Technician (III) to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. This position is a key role in the engineering group, and critical in helping transition Solid Power technology to market. The main responsibilities include assisting engineers and scientists in developing and maturing the cell electrode processing techniques and procedures using scalable and industry proven protocols, procedures, and equipment. The preferable candidate will have experience working with fluid formulations for battery coatings and in the monitoring and development of industrial processes using statistical development tools. This position will be involved in supporting cell production operations, working closely with Process Scientists and Engineers, Production Operators, R&D staff, and Technicians. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Job Duties:

  • Work closely with and under the direction of Scientists and Engineers to execute planned experimentation in the lab and on pilot production equipment.
  • Support lab experimentation through data collection, data analysis, diligent maintenance of records, and the accurate reporting of data.
  • Execute laboratory experiments and testing according to standard procedures.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation as necessary to assure proper performance.
  • Always observe and abide by facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations.
  • Support maturation of existing pilot scale process monitoring and data management from slurry making to pouching.
  • Perform and develop quality control techniques for cell processing.
  • Utilize display tools like Power Point and Excel to present relevant information to engineers and scientists.
  • Assist in specifying, purchasing, commissioning new battery cell processing, and monitoring equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders in other departments to meet and exceed customer deliverables.
  • Use the company’s document and change control system to properly archive technical documentation.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, or related field.
  • 4 years in an R&D or Production environment.
  • Demonstrated emphasis on safety.
  • Hands-on experience working with hazardous materials.
  • Experience with dry powder processes, wet chemical/slurry, and solvent-based operations a plus.
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Salary Range: $53,000 - $95,000/annually
