Solar4America is Hiring a Facilities and Safety Manager Near McClellan, CA

Position Summary:

Solar4America is a premium solar panel US manufacturer, located in Sacramento, CA. We manufacture a variety of solar panels for residential, commercial, and utility projects. We have been investing extensively in state-of-the-art equipment, technologies and teams in the U.S., which enables us to provide great local customer services and warranties to our customers.

The Safety and Facilities Manager is responsible for the on-going physical operations, maintenance, and management of the Solar4America factory in McClellan Park, California. They are the point person for all building operations and serve as the technical advisor to management on matters related to Solar4America including the proper maintenance, repair, & renovation of all facilities and equipment. They perform a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled repair and construction work on furniture, fixtures, plumbing, HVAC, electrical/electronic and related equipment and systems. The Facilities Manager supervises custodial staff and oversees the activities of contractors and vendor personnel, monitors vendor contracts for compliance and cost control, monitors facility expenditures, and performs regular quality control inspections to assure adherence to safety and industry standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs maintenance and repair as needed and/or oversee contracted maintenance and repair activities.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of employees in the workplace. They oversee programs and procedures to ensure that employees are safe, and are trained and certified in OSHA safety standards.
  • Manages and oversees the janitorial services for the facility, assuring proper cleanliness and housekeeping in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Is responsible for making sure that all facility security systems, including alarms, door and window locks, etc. are active and working properly.
  • Develops and maintains periodic schedules for the up keep and improvement of the building(s) and parking areas.
  • Monitors the appearances and condition of the building premises, both on interior and exterior as well as equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services; coordinates with Director of Operations and property manager as needed.
  • Assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as needed.
  • In coordination with the Director of Operations, ensures building code compliance; responsible for notifying Director of Operations of non-compliance.
  • Monitors and assures that all building permits remain current.
  • Participates in the planning, design, evaluating and inspection of facility modifications including making estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other costs.
  • Maintains information about basic structural data and floor plan, including the location of fire equipment, water main, sprinkler shutoff valve, gas main, fuse box or circuit breaker, and heat controls
  • Ensures that all equipment maintenance schedules are established and followed, e.g. fire extinguisher, building alarm systems, HVAC, fire sprinkler system, company vehicle, etc.
  • Serves as contact person for after-hours alarm notification service. May require on-call, after hour duties to report to facility if contacted.
  • Fills in for custodial crew in the case of absence.
  • Perform special tasks and other duties as requested.
  • Provide work direction and supervision of any facility personnel whether employee or under contract. Participate in selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of facilities work.
  • Stays current with all health & safety requirements and building standards including CalOSHA requirements and public facility or manufacturing facility regulations and ordinances.
  • Coordinates, delivers, and documents all needed safety training to staff per CalOSHA standards.
  • Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or commensurate years of experience.
  • 4 years of facility management or construction experience.
  • Experience running an active safety program. Doing this in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of facility issues, including the basics related to HVAC and electrical systems, property management, and equipment management.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in basic mechanical maintenance, plumbing, painting, carpentry and related building trades work; basic shop math; safe work methods and safety precautions related to work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in purchasing decisions and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends on occasion, as required.
  • Ability to explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently and be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must successfully complete a full background check
  • Must have a current California driver license, a dependable vehicle and valid vehicle insurance as required by CA state law.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Chinese a plus
