The Operations Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management, collection, sales, supervision of bin routes, training and purchasing new products. The Operations Manager will be paid salary plus commission, salary is based on experience.

Reports to Director of Store Operations on urgent matters relating to bin operations. Must be able to work independently and direct the work of others.

Supervises all Bin Route personnel including Assistant Store Managers, Department Supervisors, Store Associate, Volunteers and Community service workers who assist in bin and warehouse operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managing clothing and secondary market business

• Meet with potential bin host to place new bins
• Work with current bin host to ensure a quality partnership
• Maximize bin route pickup efficiency
• Establish maintenance schedule for donation bins
• Work with buyers to capitalize on highest price for goods to be sold
• Create processes to sell other second hand and recycling items that we currently do not bring to the market

New Items/Supplies

• Logging and tracking stores and warehouse vendors
• Managing items that are sold in the stores and work with vendors to reduce costs
• Monitoring how much is spent on new items and comparing this to the budget
• Establish new vendors and products that can be sold in the stores or used as supplies
• Consolidate ordering and shipping of products to promote balk buying to reduce costs
• Work with marketing department on advertisement of new items

Essential Duties

• Holding staff accountable for all assigned job duties as outlined in their job descriptions

• Being knowledgeable of St. Vincent de Paul policies regarding personnel issues including the progressive discipline policy, sick and vacation leave policies, dress code, grievance procedures, merchandising policy, payroll, job descriptions, and performance reviews
• Training all staff regarding store policies and procedures
• Responsible for using and understanding available computer applications to complete reports

MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTS:

• Three years of increasingly responsible retail management experience with two years’ experience in supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Basic judgment skills to determine the value of merchandise
• Valid driver license
• Ability to perform physical work with lift alone and with assistance and standing/ walking for up to 8 hours per day

• BS degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred
