Golf Shop Attendant

Reports to: Director of Golf and Head Golf Pro

Supervises: Not a Supervisory position

Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Serves to assist in providing customer services for the Golf Pro Shop. Responsibilities include maintenance of point-of-sale system, implementation of golf programs and policies, and operation of retail merchandise activities. Ensures that all programs and services are conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

Leadership

• Promotes a positive work culture.

Point of Sale/Merchandising

• Responsible for maintaining merchandising displays to increase sales
• Assists members with buying decisions
• Assists with inventory count each quarter
• Prepares end of day Point of Sale register
• Charges guest fees where applicable
• Assists Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in maintaining the handicap and point-of-sale programs.
• Organizes, sells, and maintains retail inventory.
• Ensures shop is attractive, neat, clean and merchandise is appropriately displayed

Member interaction

• Assists members with tee times, court times and lessons appointments
• Checks in all members and guests for appointments
• Maintains cleanliness of shop area
• Greets members and their guests in a hospitable and friendly manner
• Provides exceptional customer service to owners, guests, and internal and external partners

Other Functions

• Issues other amenity or service fees
• Assists in the preparation of golf tournaments
• As required, assists in taking periodic inventories
• Attends departmental staff meetings.
• Other duties as specified by the Director of Golf and/or Head Golf Professional

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Retail business experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of personal computers and point-of-sale systems is desirable
• Knowledge of the Game of Golf Preferred
• Customer relations and hospitality experience preferred

Licenses and Special Requirements

• Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail-oriented, and with good reasoning skills. Must be able to exchange and receive information over the telephone
• Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, telephone

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Position involves sitting, standing, and/or movement throughout the day
• Position involves kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 45 lbs.
