Snagajob is Hiring a Controller Near Denver, CO

The Opportunity

Snagajob is looking for a highly motivated, hands-on, strategic-minded controller to lead the accounting team. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will drive the core financial control process, including accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax, financial compliance and administration. The Controller will also act as a thought partner to the CFO and the executive team on special projects (e.g. fundraising, board reporting, M&A activities). In addition to core financial control capabilities, this individual’s general business acumen, team leadership and management, and the ability to partner and influence cross functionally will be equally important in the success of this role.

What You’ll Get to Do 

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable/billing, collections, payroll, sales commissions, accounts payable, financial reporting and analysis, accounting policy and procedures, and adherence to GAAP
  • Manage monthly and year-end general ledger closing activities. Ensure staff produces monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis
  • Provide strategic direction for front end revenue cycle processes. Help the billing team improve revenue cycle, documentation and billing practices
  • Plan, coordinate cross-functionally, and implement automation within our accounting process whenever appropriate (e.g. billing) 
  • Oversee cash management and monitor/analyze ongoing cash flow
  • Lead risk management efforts, identify potential risk areas and work with business partners on appropriate mitigants
  • Lead year-end financial audit process, including interaction/correspondence with external auditors
  • Work with external auditors, banks, lenders and tax advisors, and be responsible for accurate and timely completion of compliance certificates, tax returns and other relevant filings
  • If necessary, develop and document accounting policies and procedures; recommend modifications to existing procedures to improve efficiencies
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A to prepare monthly financials and associated reports, and to ensure alignment on monthly variance analysis, annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Collaborate with business partners to promote an environment of excellent customer service and continued process improvement
  • Engage and communicate with executive and leadership teams on all relevant matters. Participate in board communications when necessary 
  • Lead, manage, and develop internal accounting team
  • Occasional travel may be required, specifically to accounting talent hub Richmond, VA

What You’ll Bring

  • Significant and broad accounting experience, including experience in an accounting leadership role at a high growth organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other business discipline; CPA or comparable accounting certification preferred 
  • Prior experience in the technology industry, preferably with marketplace business models and in venture backed companies, a strong plus
  • In-depth accounting and compliance subject matter expertise, including leading annual audits
  • A track record of deploying systems and improving processes as a company scales (e.g. billing and AP automation) 
  • Prior experience with M&A a strong plus
  • Prior public accounting experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Netsuite preferred

In this role, you can expect to be paid a base salary in the range of $197,000 - $253,000. Full time employees are also eligible for Snagajob's bonus, equity, and benefits programs.
