Duties
The Marketing Specialist serves as marketing projects manager developing detailed promotional plans and campaign strategies, while also implementing campaigns, maintaining timelines, managing budgets and coordinating vendor contracts, advertising media buys and collaborative partnerships.
In This Position, You Will:
  • develop and manage marketing calendar and production timelines for advertising and promotions based on museum priorities to drive results. Campaign outline goals, objectives, timelines, campaign budget, messages, creative assets and performance metrics based on museum priorities and target audiences.
  • develop detailed project plans to track progress and keep all departments apprised with regular project status updates including timelines, milestones, risks, issues, and budget expenditures.
  • facilitate outreach and lead collaborative efforts to increase museum visibility towards expanding reach to new audiences, influencers, and organizations, working across the museum to bring collaboration concepts to fruition.
  • write and edit copy for advertising, brochures and promotional materials, influencer outreach and museum activations, sourcing images and selecting appropriate in-house and/or contract designers for campaign development.
  • assist in creating storyboards, scripts, and production of timely and relevant marketing and promotional videos, updates content on Welcome Desk digital wall signage, in-museum promotional signage and activations aligned with brand standards, museum priorities and latest museum offerings.

QualificationsBasic Qualification: Experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
In Addition To The Basic Qualification Requirement Above:You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing strategies and advertising buys; developing project management plans; writing and editing marketing materials; and producing and managing marketing campaigns. This experience must have been performed for a museum, cultural or educational institution.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
Or Education: Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position may be substituted to meet the experience requirements.
Or a Combination: Education and experience may be combined to meet the basic qualifications. For a full explanation of this option please see the Qualification Standards. All Applicants Who Meet Or Exceed Minimum Qualifications Will Receive a Final Rating Within One Of Three Category Groups Based On One Or More Stages Of Evaluation Which Measure Job-related Criteria:
Best Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job related competencies above.
Better Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and satisfies most of the job related competencies above.
Good Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not satisfy most of the job related competencies above to a substantive degree.
This category rating process does not add veterans' preference points, but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-veterans within each quality category. The Hiring Manager may make selections from the highest quality category (Best Category) provided no veteran in that category is passed over to select a non-veteran in that category unless the requirements of 5 U.S.C. 3317(b) or 3318(b) are satisfied. Veterans who meet minimum qualification requirements and who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent must be listed in the highest quality category, except when the position being filled is scientific or professional at the GS-9 grade level or higher.
