We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer with an engineering background that wishes to focus on energy optimization projects for critical facilities, including design/build solutions for our customers.
You:
6 months to 3 years of experience on engineering building systems, or HVAC projects.
Are located in the Northeast US with easy commutable access to the NYC metropolitan region. Accepting candidates located from Boston to Philadelphia
Your role will focus on design efforts and activities of complex central energy plant systems and buildings.

What you’ll do:
Evaluation, analysis, inspection, field testing, troubleshooting, and design of engineered systems for central energy plants
HVAC System Design
Able to navigate a mechanical room and perform field surveys of piping systems
Prepare drawing sets per Smith Engineering standards
Manage priorities of multiple simultaneous projects
Review and check all engineering design deliverables
Provide project status updates
Construction administration and project management
Communicate effectively with customers
Collaborate with our internal teams, including energy engineering, building controls, and automation, and our principal engineers
What you’ll need to be successful:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline
6 months to 3 years of experience on engineering building systems, or HVAC projects. Related experience such as internships will be considered.
Experience with 3D Modeling programs such as AutoCAD. AutoCAD is preferred
Substantial experience working in a small team environment with few supporting departments
Proven experience with managing multiple engineering design projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of DOB now and NYC department of buildings processes and requirements
Extensive experience with construction administration and project management
Experience mentoring new engineers
Basic Engineering Calculations
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Technical expertise in basic engineered system knowledge
Salary:
$65,000 - $95,000 per year. The salary range listed is for this particular job posting.

This is based out of the New York City metropolitan area region. The applicant is expected to work in the office and may be expected to work onsite at customer locations for specific responsibilities, and those locations may require travel. Working remotely is supported for the position upon successful completion of an initial training period and with management approval.
