Description

Summit Powder Mountain is the largest ski-able resort in North America and is preserving its magical skiing experience for generations to come and to save it from over development. The Powder Mountain Events and Marketing Manager produces Powder Mountain branded events, coordinates all third-party land use agreement events, and supports the marketing team with social media, website updates, copywriting, newsletter, scheduling, photoshoots, etc. The Events and Marketing Manager plays a key role in ensuring a world-class guest experience by researching, coordinating, and executing all aspects of any on mountain events at the highest level. As a marketing team team member, this position represents Powder Mountain and is held to a high standard of professionalism. Assuming responsibility for the event planning process from the time a contract is signed through to execution, the Event Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a deep understanding of and handle on every aspect of the event, from run of show to reconciliation 

Requirements

Job Performance Expectations:

  • Provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests.
  • Produce Powder Mountain branded events throughout the year.
  • Update website, social media, and newsletters. 
  • Calculate budgets and ensure they are adhered to. 
  • Coordinate and regularly update internal departments such as Design, F&B, Snow Safety, Terrain Parks, Lodging, Ski Patrol, Risk Management, Tickets, Communications, Transportation etc. 
  • Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations to insure smooth and consistent event quality. 
  •  Discuss with clients their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  •  Coordinate all aspects of events from the moment the contract is signed through to reconciliation and feedback gathering. 
  •  Propose ideas to improve services provided and event quality.
  •  Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.
  •  Develop and finalize event Run of Show and allocate duties to respectful staff concisely and in a timely manner. 
  •  Coordinate with marketing and PR to promote and publicize events. 
  •  Be on-site during events to ensure a seamless guest experience. 
  • Speak in public to large crowds (MC).
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day.
  • Conduct tours of grounds and facilities to clients and guests. 
  • Work inside and outside in all weather conditions as needed.
  • Prepare and adhere to annual action plan and budget.
  • Coordinate with county and state officials, if need arises.
  • Operate snowmobiles, ATVs and vehicles. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Dir. Marketing and Base Ops (social media, sales, PR, communications, marketing, etc...)

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  •  Great attitude, positive mindset, and able to adapt to an ever-changing work environment.
  •  1-2 years’ experience working in mountain environments and familiarity with the challenges they present.
  •  1-2 years’ experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • 1-2 years’ experience of event coordination.
  •  1-2 years’ experience in marketing and website cms
  •  Must have the ability to work varied hours and be on call as often as possible.
  •  Coordination with all other internal departments and staff
  •  Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Office 365) with ability to learn new programs.
  •  Experience with snowmobiles and vehicles preferred. 
  •  Experience in public speaking to large crowds. 
  •  Experience with social media channels. (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  •  Superior verbal and written communication skills as well as proofreading and editing.
  •  Outgoing personality type, team-oriented, friendly, and kind.
  •  Must be able to handle confidential matters with absolute discretion.
  •  Proactive solutions-based approach which includes strong decision making and judgment. 
  •  Excellent presentation skills, attention to detail, and clear communicator.
  •  Anticipate and avoid hazards.
  •  Ability to give directions, as well as follow and take directions as a team.
  •  Exceptional communication and coordination skills.
  •  Clean driving record. 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to: 

  • Full range of body movements 
  • Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (40 lbs) 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting 
  • Vision requirements – close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception 
  • Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain 
  • Climb/descend stairs/ladders 
  • Manual dexterity to operate manual tools and power equipment on a constant basis 
  • Safely handle hazardous materials 

Work Environment:

This role will require both indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor environment possibly can present exposed to extreme temperatures, sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain/snow) and high altitudes( 9,000ft).
