Description

 An hour north of Salt Lake City, Powder Mountain is a year-round destination for an ongoing program of events and activities- a home to the emergent culture of creativity and collaboration exemplified by the Powder Mountain community. Powder Mountain is the largest skiable resort in North America and is preserving its magical skiing experience for generations to come and to save it from overdevelopment. Powder Mountain is now focused on building a new urban village at 8600 feet, showing that by developing a portion of the mountain responsibility, the entirety can be saved from overdevelopment. The Powder Mountain Event Manager produces Powder Mountain branded events and coordinates the third-party venue use agreements. The Event Manager plays a key role in ensuring a world-class guest experience by researching, coordinating, and executing all aspects of any third-party events at the highest level. Assuming responsibility for the event planning process from the time a contract is signed to execution, the Event Manager is responsible for maintaining a deep understanding of and executing on every aspect of the event, from run of show to reconciliation.

Requirements

Job Performance Expectations:

·Be the main point of contact for Clients and respond to all inquiries within a timely manner.

· Provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests.

· Prepare detailed event proposals incorporating services and venues available to meet the Client’s objective and

budget.

· Calculate budgets and ensure they are adhered to for Powder Mountain.

· Coordinate and regularly update internal departments such as Food and Beverage, Snow Safety, Lodging, Ski Patrol, Risk Management, Tickets, Transportation, etc. when applicable.

· Coordinate event logistics with client and set up team.

· Discuss with clients their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.

· Coordinate all aspects of events from the moment the contract is signed to reconciliation and feedback gathering.

· Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality.

· Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations; COI, waivers, etc.

· Develop and finalize event Run of Show and prepare Banquet Event Orders (BEO) for allocating duties to staff concisely and in a timely manner.

· Cooperate and coordinate with Marketing to promote and publicize event.

· Be on-site during event to ensure a seamless guest experience.

· Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day.

· Conduct tours of grounds and facilities to potential clients and guests.

· Work inside and outside in all weather conditions as needed.

· Coordinate with county and state officials, if need arises.

· Maintain a clear and concise knowledge of the Utah DABS rules & regulations.

· Maintain compliance with the DABS and be prepared for any audits.

· Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of assets.

· Maintain a database of local vendors who share the same high level customer service to ensure excellent guest experiences.

· Learn the basic navigation for the software systems Maestro (Lodging) and Entabeni.

· Director and assist with Group sales for events, i.e tickets, snow adventures, etc.

· Other duties as assigned by Director of Hospitality.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

· Great attitude, positive mindset, and able to adapt to an ever-changing work environment.

· 2 years’ experience of event coordination.

· Must have the ability to work varied hours and be on call as often as possible.

· Coordination with all other internal departments and staff

· Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Google Drive) with ability to learn new programs.

· Experience with social media channels. (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

· Superior verbal and written communication skills as well as proofreading and editing.

· Outgoing personality type, team-oriented, friendly, and kind.

· Must be able to handle confidential matters with absolute discretion.

· Proactive solutions-based approach which includes strong decision making and judgment.

· Excellent presentation skills, attention to detail, and clear communicator.

· Anticipate and avoid hazards.

· Ability to give directions, as well as follow and take directions as a team.

· Exceptional communication and coordination skills.

· Clean driving record.

Physical Requirements: 

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to: 

  • Full range of body movements 
  • Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (40 lbs) 
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and twisting 
  • Vision requirements – close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception 
  • Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain 
  • Climb/descend stairs/ladders 
  • Manual dexterity to operate manual tools and power equipment on a constant basis 
  • Safely handle hazardous materials
