SmarTek21 is Hiring an Accounting Clerk Near Kirkland, WA

SmarTek21 is looking for an Accounting Clerk for its Kirkland, WA headquarters. This position ensures complete and systematic accounting records of receipts and disbursements in the organization by performing complex clerical and entry-level accounting tasks and applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and keeps financial and business transaction data up-to-date, applying accepted procedures, and prepares reports to ensure accurate accounting records.
  • Compiles and checks source documents, such as vouchers, invoices, purchase orders, and cash receipts, for completeness and accuracy, and prepares reports.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions to appropriate ledgers and journals, and totals accounts.
  • Prepares computer input forms for processing of transaction data.
  • Compares print-outs against source documents and journal entries to verify accuracy and prepares input forms to reconcile errors.
  • Periodically reviews records and subsequent computer printouts to balance accounts and to identify suspense items or delinquent accounts requiring further action.
  • Files and maintains clerical records and reports pertinent information to Staff Accountant or technical operations.
  • Prepares and mails bills or statements, or prepares lists of outstanding bills payable.
  • Proofreads and post operations progress or other reports and make a monthly summary or recap of such reports as needed.
  • Types vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records.
  • Audits and proves accounting or other reports for clerical accuracy and conformance to departmental, county, and state procedures.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:
Associates degree in Business or Accounting required; at least six months of experience/training in Accounting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Computer Skills

Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Certificates and Licenses:
This position does not require specific certifications or licenses.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine email correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

This position is in a standard office environment with a moderate noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must constantly reach with hands and fingers. The employee must be able to work in close contact with small and large groups. Frequent hearing and talking are required. The employee must constantly reach with hands and fingers. Extensive keyboard typing is required. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
