Smarkets is Hiring a Remote Customer Service Representative (Remote)

Smarkets is an exchange platform for betting and trading on sport and politics. We operate two main consumer products - the Smarkets exchange and the SBK sportsbook app - in the UK, US, and other global markets.

We are currently looking for a committed new team member to join our success story. As a Customer Service Representative you’ll be the first point of contact for all Smarkets and SBK customers. You will interact and manage relationships with our customers through multiple channels (email, phone, live chat and more), as well as ensure the products are live and accessible. You will be processing payments, checking and approving customer documentation as well as collaborating with other teams to make sure issues impacting our customers are fixed in a timely manner. Providing an exemplary level of customer support and user experience is the main focus of the role.

This is a remote position for candidates based in Los Angeles, California. After the training phase, the successful candidate will be required to work five days per week (including one weekend day per week) from 15:00 to 23:30 LA Time, unless otherwise agreed.

About You

  • 1 years of experience in a customer-facing role or in a role with transferable skill sets, ideally with an online component
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical groups
  • Strong written and verbal English skills are paramount to the role (level C2 required)
  • You are able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • You are able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • You are able to review information from a variety of sources and make a great decision for the customer and the business
  • Good typing/keyboard skills and computer literacy
  • You must have the legal right to work in the USA
  • Familiarity with the world of sports betting is a bonus point
