Sko-Die is Hiring a Material Handler Near Morton, IL
Job Functions:
• Safely drive a forklift truck and handle a powered hand truck.
• Moves raw material from storage to work centers, weighs and returns left over raw materials back to storage.
• Moves Dies/Tooling from tool room to press room, and may load into presses when required (with setup personnel).
• Moves finished goods or work-in-process from work centers to shipping department or to other work centers.
• Unloads indoor scrap containers into large outdoor scrap containers. Weighs and fills out report for scrap turn-in to management.
• Maintains cleanliness of outside area where empty skids and scrap hoppers are stored.
• Disposes of discarded packaging materials generated in the course of unpackaging skids of raw material.
• Communicates with coworkers & supervisors to receive instructions & coordinate activities to keep work centers running at optimum efficiency.
• Works closely with Inventory Control for material managements and inventory accuracy.
• Enforces safety regulations for forklift truck operation.
• Inputs labor into the data collection terminals.
• General housekeeping and organization in storage areas.
Job Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 1-year experience in operating a forklift truck and handling material for production.
• Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
• Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: the employee is subject to:
• High noise levels from operating machines.
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
• Breathing fumes, dust and mist.
• Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
• Required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
• Required to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
• Required to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or
• Required to exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
